In 2013, the Ugandan Tourism Board recognized Kenya's tourism industry as generating an amount of $66 million annually from Ugandan tourists.

Domestic tourism involves the citizens who tour within the country; whileinternational tourism is where tourist from other countries comes to visit Kenya. International tourism is the main source of income compared to domestic tourism. Of late, the international tourism has been slightly affected by threats posed by Al- Shabaab terrorist group. However, this threat is being dealt with accordingly especially with the launch of KDF attacks on the Somalia Al-Shabaab.

Kenya being a fast growing economy, has good roads connecting most of the tourist attraction points. Super highways have started emerging starting with the Thika Super Highway making it possible for tourist to arrive at their intended destinations fast.
